Greece 2024 -Day 16

Sifnos to Chania (Crete)

A long but pleasant transit day from Sifnos to the city of Chania (haa-nee-uh) on the island of Crete. This involved two ferries, one from Sifnos to Milos and one from Milos to Chania with a three hour layover. I especially enjoyed the Sifnos to Milos leg as it was on an old slow ferry with an open deck. Also I got to see my previous Milos destination village from the sea. The three hour layover was spent pleasantly having lunch and people watching.

The Crete ferry was delayed 90 minutes which meant that I arrived in Crete later than expected. Nothing good to say about the ‘you beaut’ Speed Runner ferry other than it is fast. No outside access so everyone is locked inside with the air conditioner set so low that people are reaching for their jumpers and coats.

Things didn’t improve on arrival in Chania as there were no taxis, no taxi rank, no directions to taxis ranks – welcome and now work it out yourself. Happily  a cruising driver stopped to deliver me to the hotel.
